Isle of Palms, Sullivans Island, Mt. Pleasant
Josephine (Josie) has always joked that she’s an Argentine girl who speaks Pittsburghese and thinks she’s Carolinian. Born in the city of La Plata, Argentina, Josie was raised Stateside from infancy on in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Since she was a young girl in the late 70s, her mom would pack her and her five brothers and sisters the station wagon the day after school let out and make the 12-hour trip from Pittsburgh to Hilton Head Island for the summer. Those long, magical summers she spent in Hilton Head seeped into her soul and have stayed with her since. To this day, Josie swears something happens deep within her when she begins to climb the connector bridge from Mt. Pleasant to Isle of Palms and sees the vast marshlands. They had been calling her home since she was a young girl, resulting in Josie and her husband Gastón moving their family of seven along with their Golden Retriever, Andino, to Mt. Pleasant to join her brother Oliver’s family, and the team at St. Germain Properties. It’s not that Josie loves Hilton Head less, just Charleston more—the beaches, the history, the restaurants and shopping, the daily poolside happy hours—not to mention, the real estate. Josie’s family was all on board with livin’ la vida low country. In addition to being an HGTV addict who binge watches Property Brothers late at night and a full-time realtor with St. Germain Properties, Josie is also the author of the culinary memoir, Sobremesa: A Memoir of Food & Love in Thirteen Courses (Scribe Publishing, Co., May 2021) and the cookbook, Dulce de Leche: Recipes, Stories & Sweet Traditions (Burgess Lea Press, 2017).
